Kevin Casey has extensive experience representing individuals and entities across a broad range of matters, both civil and criminal. His practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, securities litigation and enforcement, white-collar criminal matters, and intellectual property disputes. He also has experience with regulatory and internal investigations. At Waymaker, Kevin has represented founders, funds, publicly listed entities, and other clients in connection with various commercial disputes and criminal and regulatory enforcement matters, including those involving cutting-edge blockchain and cryptocurrency technology, many of which raised novel legal issues.
Kevin began his career in the Tokyo office of Morrison Foerster, where his practice focused on complex multinational commercial disputes, internal investigations, and compliance issues related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He also provided advice on litigation risk in connection with cross-border mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Waymaker, Kevin worked at Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason & Anello P.C., a white-collar boutique firm in New York, where he represented individuals and entities in connection with criminal proceedings and civil enforcement actions. While there, he was part of a team that obtained a highly favorable result for a former CFO of a publicly traded company after a complex civil enforcement action that spanned multiple jurisdictions and involved extensive international discovery.
At Columbia Law School, Kevin was a James Kent Scholar and a member of the Columbia Law Review. He also participated in a clinic with the Center for Appellate Litigation, in which he represented an indigent client on a criminal appeal before the Appellate Division, First Department. Kevin is fluent in Japanese, and graduated with a dual major in Japanese and Chinese Literature.
